We are proud to confirm that Pennington Sports and Social Club operates as a not‑for‑profit organisation.
The land and building we occupy are owned by the King George V Jubilee Memorial Working Men’s Club (UK Registered Charity No. 236705). Under the charity’s governing document (1937), the premises are held for the benefit of the inhabitants of Pennington for recreation, sport and community use.
The Club itself was established on 2 February 1952, and we continue that tradition today, running for the benefit of our members and the wider community within this charitable framework.
We are supported by a group of Trustees, without whom past and present, the club would not be in the strong position it is today. Our Trustees comprise an ex-officio member, eight representative members, and any additional representatives it is seen fit to appoint.
The Club rules are such that the President of the Sports and Social Club nominates new and replacement Trustees. In effect this means that new Trustees must be first approved by the Club Committee with the minutes book updated to approve the nomination.
Trustees are as follows:
The ex-officio member is the Vicar of Pennington.
Two members from the councillors of Lymington and Pennington Town Council, who represent the Pennington Ward.
Four nominated by the Committee of Pennington Sports and Social Club,
Two from each of the football teams and cricket teams, nominated by their relevant Committees. Ordinarily, this is in conjunction with the Committee of Pennington Sports and Social Club.
The Trustees also comprise a Chairman and Treasurer.
Full details are available at the Charities Commission website.
